Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising User Review
Takes all the good qualities of the first game and improves on them.

- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 40 to 100 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Highly addictive"
Pros:
The combat system is simple and fun.
Fun and light hearted with a hint of let's go save the world.
There is one new class of tank.
Tactics are needed to win or you will take a beating.
Lots of content to play in the war room section after finishing the main campaign.
Cons:
Not much of a story to the main campaign.
A bit easier in difficulty then the first AW.
AW2 is a srpg but what makes it stand above many other srpgs is that there are 19 different types of units and not all of them are useable in every battle. Some battles have air combat but no sea combat and vice-versa. Also in some battles you have a fixed amount of units and in other battles you can build new units to replace fallen ones. There is also a lot of different ways to play the game, there's the main campaign and also the war room where you can unlock maps and then have battles against the AI to conquer the map.
The graphics are not flashy but are good and clear. In fact the style is appropriate for the WWII feel of the game and I liked them just fine. For a Game Boy Advance game their very good and give the game a kind of charm.
The story is not very complex or long but suits the game. Basically you just move from one battle to another with a little bit of story between battles. This keeps the game light and fast paced.
There is a lot of value to a game like this, I have probably sunk 50+ hours into this game and although the game is simple and repetitive in nature it is also fun and addictive. The pick up and play factor is also handy and not having to remember a storyline gives you the freedom to have long gaps in gameplay time, without that "now what was I supposed to be doing" feeling when you haven't played a game after a couple of weeks.
GAMEPLAY: 8/10
GRAPHICS: 8/10
STORY: 7/10
VALUE: 9/10
OVERALL: 8/10
