User Rating: 8.9 | Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising GBA
Its still a terrific game. Just like its predecessor, Advance Wars 2 is very addictive. If you can't find the first game, get this right away. However the problem with Advance Wars 2 is that it feels more like an expansion pack to Advance Wars than it does a full sequel. Nearly everything is the same. The gameplay mechanics haven't really been tweaked. If you want to know exactly how it plays, read my review on the first game. There isn't too many changes. You have ONE new unit in the incredibly powerful NeoTank, but to use it in the Campaign, you must capture a certain building in a certain mission for each army that'll unlock a secret mission which, if beaten, gives you the right to unleash Neo Tanks. In the Campaign, you'll deal with new obstacles such as giant cannons and massive pipes. Also new to the Campaign is that you're no longer restricted to Orange Star COs, as you'll play as most of the other armies from the last game (as well as some new ones.) This means more levels of strategy as you cope with your CO's strengths and weaknesses. The one fault with the Campaign is that some missions involve so many units, that the AIs turn will take a very long time. You can still unlock maps for single missions, you can still make your own maps, and the game is as multiplayer-friendly as the first game. But there isn't a lot of change made to the game in the first place. If its more of the same you want, Advance Wars 2 will deliver. If you can't find the first game, this will do, as the game's first few missions serve as a tutorial and you're not missing much story.
