Playing God all over again.

User Rating: 9 | Actraiser SNES
I loved this game when it was on the SNES, and was happy to see it come to the virtual console. I haven't really played it since I got rid of my original Super Nintendo a decade or so ago, so I was a little skeptical about how I would feel about it now. To date, most games that "were so awesome when I played them back then" tend to be just that; but Actraiser is one of those games that can still deliver 16 years after it's release. It was an innovative title in it's day, and still manages to capture your attention. Actraiser is a good blend of side-scrolling action and overhead god-sim. Whether calling down falling stars from the heavens to vanquish Minotaurous (I do Bloodpool and Filmore at the same time) or protecting your followers as they build their newly established city and seal monster lairs, you will always have fun. Although a short game, it will keep you putting provebial coins into your Wii's Virtual Console for the day or two it will take you to beat it (assuming you have other things to do), or for the rest of us, the few hours. A great game.
