Zero is a stunning display of cinematography, yet not much different from its sisters...

User Rating: 8.1 | Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War PS2
Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, has many of the same ideas as its predecessors: Shattered Skies, and Unsung War. Although the soundtrack is much different (a predominant Latin theme), the game is much the same as before.

As always in the Ace Combat cinematography, the graphics are STUNNING. The movies here are so real, you wonder how much the actors get paid. Graphics in general gameplay is not much different from before. The player's plane is obviously more detailed than surrounding planes, but ally and enemy planes are catching up. For some reason, I feel that the AI is much more intelligent in this game of the series. A well qualified "Ace" from previous AC games might want to start out on hard. It's not as if missiles are harder to dodge... it's that the enemy is much better at evasive maneuvers. In general, the AI has taken some advanced steps towards utter realism. The plot has many key elements from previous games, as always with some form of tunnel in the final sortie... *sigh.* You'd think Namco could come up with something more revolutionary. Regardless, another fantastic game in the series... just a little too short for my liking. It is also a shame that "Ace Combat Six: ?????" is coming out only on PS3.
