Ace Combat 7 Assault horizons Review. By Razgriz1972 an Ace Combat seris Fan and Loyal Follower
I was excited to play this version and was intrigued by the Dogfight Fight Mode or DFM for short. but when i jumped in the F-22 in the first level which does indeed look amazing i was very disappointed. to shoot down the flight lead the ONLY way is to get into DFM and then the computer (sometimes when it wants to) will follow the enemy flight leader and then you shoot him down. NO SKILL REQUIRED. i thought i would ovr look this small detail but when you get behind some jets in later levels even firing both missiles while he is flying straight is not guarenteed to hit, and so you have to rely on DFM to get through the mission. the ace combat i know and love #5 which was the best one in my opinion and the one i think of when i play ace combat has been lost to a stupid mini game.
the graphics do look amazing, the explosions realistic(ish) and the jets look spectacular but what is great graphics when the gameplay is so boring and lifeless. one of my final gripes at this game was one level where you have to stop a trinity warhead from destroying the kremlin you have to shoot down the bomber arrying it. i thought straightford and the radio ven says that I will take the bomber and my wingmen will take the escorts. well i hope you like wasting your life because your wingmen don't do sh** all. if i attack the bomber i get shot down within 10 seconds, if i attack the escorts the bomber unleashes the cruisemissile. its a lose, lose situation and is very annoying.
overall the game is fun if you like the story which is amazing btw but the gameplay is dull and repetitive. buy if your a fan or collector of the series but if your looking for the great ace combat like gamepay which was in 3, 4 and 5 i is gone.
