Freddy's back, and he's in your PC.

User Rating: 7.5 | A Nightmare on Elm Street C64
Graphics: They're pretty good for C64 graphics I have to say. Basically you start out in an overhead view of a maze, alone in the neighborhood while you run to find Freddy's house before he kills you. Then once you get into the house, the view switches to a close-up still overhead view, but it reminds me of Ultima.

Sound/Music: Nothing plays except for some heartbeat-like sounds, usage of items/weapons, getting attacked, and little things like that.

Difficulty: It starts out pretty easy, but as you get deeper into the house, you find new enemies, traps and so on. There are a varity of traps that appear too, and the mazes inside the house.

Gameplay: This game takes place around movie # 3-5. You are able to select five of six teenagers, and your goal in the start is to run from Freddy while trying to find his house. Once you're in, he won't be chasing you around anymore. Each teen has their own special power, which takes away from your special meter but will recharge over time. Along the way you can collect other weapons and useful items. Each level is put into an almost maze-like form, sometimes you'll run around in circles without realizing it. The idea? Once you're inside, work past the mazes, fight off the enemies, slip through the traps, rescue your friends and kill Freddy, while avoiding being killed yourself. Lucky for you, there's a save feature.

Controls: Really all you use is the arrow keys, numbers, enter and space. Very simple.

Overall: I wouldn't say this is the best, it's not anywhere near, but it offers quite a challenge and looks pretty good really. Any Freddy fan would probably enjoy this game along with the NES version, although I'd recommend this one because it follows along with the movie a little bit more. Check out Ebay or some other store, you might get lucky.
