Great for Mech fans, but harder for non-mech fans.

Well this game certainly ranks quite high on my list of favourite games. I played the sequel first so i thought i had a rough idea of what to expect. Although at first it seems similar it is quite different. The controls are different and the gameplay is slightly different as well. I found it quite hard to adapt to the different controls even though i play a lot of mech games. So i really recommend this game to mech fans. Also if you are thinking of getting both the games in the series i recommed getting this one first because you will get used to the general way these games work. You will also need to download the walkthrough for the missions off of the internet simply because this game is all the better if you can read Japanese but if not without the walkthrough you will get stuck.

As far as graphics go this game has pulled off the realistic movements in the mechs, but the enviroment leaves alot to be desired. The weapons in the game all look pretty well polished, although again the enviroment explosions aren't that impressive. The Sounds and FX in the game make you feel like you are in an actual battle. Great sounds both in movements of the mecha and the weaponry. The gameplay i felt was great although the controls can make it difficult to manuever sometimes, but you can change the controls if you wish.

As for the overall value i reckon its worth being in the colection of any avid Mech fan. If you haven't played a mech game before then i wouldn't recommend this game as it can be difficult and frustrating to navigate the controls.
