Enough memories from the last time I was there in '68. no reason to buy, visit or play for me
The game does not take place in 1968.
The setting is the first Indochina war that resulted in the expulsion of French imperialism from Vietnam. This is prior to America's meddling in the affairs of the region, which, unfortunately, resulted in your unhappy experiences in what is a humble, scenic and beautiful country.
I've spoken to a number of Germans, Italians and Japanese who are gamers themselves but are dismayed by what seems like an endless deluge of WWII titles which seem to portray their people as inhuman savages. It is as if they are being punished again and again for events predating their birth. The Vietnamese have been treated in a similar manner.
You've probably played these games with glee and yet when the shoe is on the other foot, you call foul.
If the gaming industry is to explore historical conflicts while being intellectually honest, then all sides should be presented; not just what the victors have written.
In an industry that is dominated by one-dimensional pro-American propaganda CODish games, it's refreshing to at least see a propaganda title from the other side on a little known conflict that was to be the prelude to the Vietnam War. :)
So, then don't play the game. Why are you even here? To bash a game that you never played? I came here to see if other gamers agreed with the bad reviews. Not to hear someone make up bs about being in a war he never really was in at all.
