>In January, Atari said it would be powering up its lucrative Dragon Ball Z license on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with DBZ: Burst Limit for the first time. With the game's June 10 ship date quickly approaching, the publisher is giving fans an advance look with a demo, available for download now through the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
In the full retail version, more than 20 playable characters will be on hand to level various environments in five different modes. The game will meld cel-shaded art with high-definition visuals, and both versions will boast online play over their respective networks.
Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit is in development at Japanese studio Dimps and Namco Bandai Games. For more on the title, check out GameSpot's most recent preview.
this game is actually quite fun
i agree and i hope it doesnt stop at the cell saiga like the other 1
I gave the demo a look myself earlier and I'm really liking it. Kudos to Dimps for putting in so much effort to make the game look so fantastic, when you see it in motion you really get an idea of how much of an upgrade this is.
Stop complaining about character numbers. Tenkaichi 3 may have had many characters but the majority of them played the same and so the overall feel and mechanics of the game suffered. I was weary of this game in production simply because of the mechanic changes that were being made and after playing the demo I can't wait to pick this one up come June. It looks like this is shaping up to be the best in the series. The lower number of characters equates to more detail put into individualization of characters and thus a better game. More is not always better, so quit crying.
got the demo its pretty good it seems like there are not going to be that many characters but thats fine since each character has new move sets and the game now has online
I'll probably get the demo tonight. Hope it's better then the Iron Man or Bourne Conspiracy games I tried, as I couldn't get into either.
The demo was a lot of fun. I'm glad to see that they've finally gotten away from the Tenkaichi crap.
I played the demo and i enjoyed it. The only thing i wish they would change was the fact that the face animations dont really look next gen, they have no real emotion, they say one thing but their lips dont really match, other than that i say its shaping up to be a great installment to the dragon ball z franchise. ps. "ps3thabest", 360 is the best and sadly it does stop at the cell saga, but hopefully they make downloadable content for it.
Stop the complaints of the character numbers. In all 3 tenkaichi games all I did was tap square till my gauge fills up then pressed triangle and smashed em up in the air followed by an energy move. As long as the game is fun it doesn't matter. I still play the original Mortal Kombat and that has like 7-9 characters. Wait for the game to come out.
T3 had a lot of characters YES... BUT, i can guarantee you that people only used like 10-12 of all those characters
i think the lips didnt match the audio because the animations were from the japanese version and the audio from the american
dont forget , it is coming out in japan first and they probably wanted to post a demo of the version that was more complete
I'll buy it if it ends up being good. But I'll play the demo and wait for the reviews.
This demo is fantastic. Only 20 chars in the full version though?
So far from the demo the game is great, I hope the full version plays as well!!
I really liked the way the game tries to develop the storyline we're all familliar with during the fights instead of simply doing it the traditional way : the talk before and after the fight, and rewards you with more cut-scenes if you played like it was demanded (blocking certain attacks, landing some special attacks and using some stances). I'm still trying to see every cinematic for the two fights in the demo, since those cut-scenes look so awesome that's a huge plus on the playability. I'm not kidding, DBZ now look even better than the original anime, watch it in motion it's every DBZ fan's dream! I don't wanna live in a world where a game like this does not come with a replay theater to watch them all once they are unlocked. ![]()
Course you could wish there was 60 characters and it covers all the DBZ Saga past Buu lol, but I'd rather have 20 characters all packed with awesome animations & moves than three times more with a third of the great moves and time spent on developping and making sure they are fun.
Let's be realistic, they can add new characters next game and build up on the roster like the other DBZ games, as long as the core game is solid. It takes time to develop that much characters ; it's not just drawing/translating animations, you have to balance the game and decide what moves each character gets. If it means less palette-swapping & generic moves for each character, I don't mind a more limited roster and have them concentrate on the main ones.
Just trying to do 60 characters in the first of this new line of DBZ games would be overkill and water down the experience, leave the devs less time per character and let's face it I'm sure they don't plan on making only one Burst Limit, so they won't throw Buu in there right away I'm afraid.
Absolutely worth a download to try the demo if you are a DBZ fan.
Not sure if a casual fighting game fan would like it, as they may enjoy more complicated mechanics and the quantity of cinematics may get on one's nerve if they don't care for the story. This one sure has the "flashy" thing we all love down to an art though.
Dude, I don't care for the number of characters, and BT3's majority of characters were transformations, which should'nt count as characters. I got the demo, awesome, best DBZ fighting so far, can't wait till I get it online, 360, just 'cause the game ends at the cell saga doesn't bother me, I mostly play DBZ games for fighting, but the show for entertainment, story's being not all the way through doesn't bother me at all. for those who have a 360, and are on line, my gamer tag is-
joe blood death
look me up, and when Burst comes out, we'll fight!
smooth flowing fighting... lovin' it.
to ps3thabest, this game does stop at the cell saga
Let's see if we can find the demo in PSN
iliked the games mechanics, but the specials were prettyu lame and in acurrate. Still, WAY TOO SHORT!! The sagas before buu were the best story wise, but with only about 20 characters and only a few non destructive environments, the game won't give a worthy story for true fans, and won't stay true to the spirit of DBZ
I played the demo, was pretty underwhelming.
Personally, I'm overjoyed they are returning to the Budokai 1 style of DBZ games, let alone stopping at the Cell saga (which is awesome because after that, DBZ becomes ridiculous). The graphics are sweet. Definitely looking forward to this.
Tech-head, I can practically say that you have no idea what you are talking about. What peetowser was saying is that the company was going for quality over quantity. Budokai Tenkaichi was nothing but quantity over quality and as a true gamer (myself) I prefer quality over quantity. The game features 21 characters, but all of them move, animate and do things differently from everyone else, making them more unique and true to the character. In all the past DBZ fighting games, most of the characters animated and fought practically the same, the only difference was their special attacks. Plus, the strategy in all the older games was knock your opponent away, charge your ki and then pull off your super move 3 or 4 times until you won making the combat very repetitive and boring a lot of times. This game depends on making think and actually use skill to beat your opponent. Same strategy occurred in Tenkaichi as well, knock my opponent away, charge ki, then pull off super move, very boring and repetitive and unskillful. Burst Limit truly IS a next-gen DBZ game and definitely IS quality over quantity. in the next Burst Limit, they'll probably put in maybe another 20 characters that, just as the first, all animate and fight differently than everyone else. So please, don't talk trash about a game you haven't played and if you've played the demo, you still don't have room to talk. I got your back peetowser:]
Great demo. Anyone who's a fan of the older ones (Budokai series) should check it out.
Im sorry but i gotta agree with tech-head, i mean first of all, there are only twenty characters and i can see what ur saying about the mechanics being good and yada yada yada...but the specials...how can i put this?....SUCK! How is it that this game is supposedly sooo great yet tenkaichi 2 had better specials. Not to mention the fact that the levels are no longer destructible nor can you fly freely. To top it all off the controls for the cool pursuit moves are even more complicated than the tenkaichi controls which every one complains about. So what im saying is if that is what u thought about tenkaichi 3 then u obviously suck at the game and have no room to talk either! In all honesty it looks like they spent more money on the shiny look of the game than anything else. Oh and the mechanics play just like budokai 1 in that u cant string together combos (which u could do in tenkaichi 2 and 3). I mean so far the game plays like an arcadey button masher. And all the combos pre set so u cant make your own.
And also there's nothing strategic about this game at least not from what i saw in the demo. Now i dont know if some of u work for dimps or bandai namco or whatever and know something i dont but from that demo it looks like u can put a gorilla on the sticks and still easily defeat the demo characters on normal difficulty. And one more thing what is up with the whole saibaman switch out thing? Every that u defeat one a little sign comes up on the screen and says that there's another saibaman when it is obviously the same one. Dude, thats really pathetic, they didnt even put in a switch out animation....oh maybe they used the entire budget for that to put in more story mode animations for a story that we have all seen like 50 million times. Why dont they just call it what it really is... a next gen remake of budokai 1.
This game is gonna be awesome. I just played the demo and it's really fun (seriously). The budokai feeling is gnna make this game a hit. Though I've just witnessed only 2 fights, I'm sure the rest of the fights are just as good! Getting this game for sure ( Hardcore dbz fan).
I just played this demo a zillion times already. Its gonna be a good game ![]()

I hope it ends up being as good as B3 at least
