You could call it Lego Zelda

User Rating: 8.5 | 3D Dot Game Heroes PS3
I don't know how copyright laws work on these things, but this game is the equal of one of those tribute bands that tour all over the world playing songs from the original band we all know. Is it bad? No, specially if you've been craving for a Zelda-like game on the Playstation. The gameplay out-Zeldas the classic 2D Zeldas, spot on. Not only Zelda, but some other classic "action" RPGs like Final Fantasy and Pokemon. If you're too young, you will have an idea of what were the good videogames like back in the late 80s, early 90s. If you're old enough to have played the classics, you already know how to play this. And that's where a few older players are going to be disappointed about. This game doesn't bring anything new to the formula aside from trying to sound like a parody of the forementioned games instead of a copy. This means, you will find it way too easy. However, you will enjoy the gameplay, plus the retro music and situations. One thing that it could have improved was the graphics. I know the parody was transforming classic 2D games into 3D, but the 3D transition fails. Colors look oatmeal bland and the fixed camera doesn't cover some spots. This is a game that in 2D could have been a must-have in anyone's library. Specially in mobile games. A 2D Dot Game Heroes should be fun to play on the PSP and even the PS2. Back in the day, everyone would've killed to have a videogame worthy of Zelda in their repertoire, and these guys did it. Kudos to the developers for this effort.
