Another game that proves retro still works!

What can be better than having a giant sword clear a room of bad guys in one swipe? What is better than some old school Zelda game playing? Nothing you say? Then you might want to check this game out. Now that being said to say this is all the game has to offer is a bit insulting. Though it does play off if it ain't broke don't fix it old school Zelda style of play this game has its own charming world waiting to be explored.

The Story:

You are a hero trying to save Dotnia from an evil dark mage.

The Bad:

Miss-able side quests meaning if you want to get 100 percent first time through you might want to look for a guide. Though technically the game is very crisp and easy on the eyes graphically its very simple and retro. If you can't understand the style they were going for then you probably will think this is a downfall however if you understand it will only add to this games charm. Things are not very self explanatory just like the good ol days of gaming however this can be a hindrance if you are trying to figure out what to do next though its nothing you won't eventually get through. Some items feel useless but its nothing that I personally cared about.

The Good:

Boss battles are fun and challenging for the most part depending give or take on how upgraded your sword is. Castle lay-outs are also very fun requiring you to actually move all around before finally making it to the end. Exploring the world is very exciting finding places you can't get to until you finally get that item that will get you to the other side or burn down that tree to see whats waiting for you on the next map. There is decent amount of enemies for the kinda game this is and trying to catch them all in your beastary is kinda hard. What is a Beastary you ask? A giant book you obtain that you hit monsters with until the word "Get!" in red letters pops up. This allows you to see a little bit of information on the character in one of the pause menus. Its really not as easy as it sounds. The music in this game is a repeating loop you will either love this or hate this. I happened to love the catchy music and I didn't seem to notice it at others points it was never annoying though. The price is 40 bucks CND so its cheap and rightfully so. The controls work the way they should as well as the items, and there is no cheapness to the enemies or situations your put into.

In the middle:

no real story so you can pretty make up a lot of it on the way if you want. There is a create a character though I didn't really care for it others might! I however did not see it as a good or bad thing it was just there.

So would I recommend buying this game?

This is only for people who already have a good idea of what they are getting into. I really think anyone could enjoy this game however with the way people like flash over everything else these days I think they might pass this up. 40 dollars is pretty cheap and this is a full game experience so I guess I would have to say only for those retro lovers, but if your looking for something old to bring something fresh to your pile of FPS games then pick this game up you won't regret the visit to Dotnia.
