Games submitted will be placed by our judges into ONE of the following categories.
ACTION games are nonsports games that call primarily upon a player's physical skills, such as reflexes, coordination, aim, finger strength, and timing. Action games include top-down shooters, Whack-a-Mole games, and fighting/brawling games. Examples: Raiden, Gauntlet, Shado Fighter, Operation Shadow, DRIV3R.
BOARD/CARD games include all traditional board, card, and parlor games that have been recast into mobile format, whether single-player or multiplayer, as well as trivia games. Examples: Monopoly, Phil Hellmuth's Texas Hold 'Em, Trivial Pursuit.
PUZZLE games are those that require a substantial amount of mathematical thought and/or spatial reasoning. Puzzle games may be timed, and they may also include an action component. For the purposes of the contest, puzzle games will include maze-running games and puzzle shooters. Examples: Pac-Man, Pac-Man Puzzle, Phantom Mansion Origins, Sokoban, Rubik's Mobile Pipelines, Tetris, Puzzle Bobble.
STRATEGY games include all tycoon/resource management games, as well as real-time and turn-based military strategy games. Examples: Port Royale 2, Townsmen 2, Warfare Incorporated, Ancient Empires.
SPORTS games include all games based on traditional, alternative, and extreme sports, including racing games but not necessarily all driving games. Examples: Jamdat Sports NFL 2005, Bush vs. Kerry Boxing, Sumo Wrestling, Crash Nitro Kart.
