I didn't think games based on truck-driving could be good, I was wrong.

Let's start off directly shall we? 18 Wheels of Steel: Pedal to the Metal is a good game. When I picked this game up I hadn't heard of it before, so I didn't know what to expect at all. It turned out that it was a game that made me addicted for a whole week. Your goal in Pedal to the Metal is to get somewhere in the trucker-career. First you start off with driving cargo for a company. Eventually you'll be able to buy your own truck, and start your own company, and pick yourself what cargo you want to drive across the country (or over the borders). There's even a third mode, which allows you to hire other truckers, and buy 'em trucks. What disappointed me with this game was that money doens't concern you at all really. You can easily find jobs that gives you $50.000. After that job you can improve your car to the max, buying all the upgrades possible, and you would still have lots of money left. And when you eventually hire other trucker's, the money will just come rolling right in. When I stopped playing the game, I had 7 truckers, with all identical trucks (each truck costed about $250.000 with all upgrades). Every six hours I would get like a new $200.000, which made me a millionare quite fast actually. Which made the game, totally un-necessary to continue on with. I liked the function that you can use your own music in the game. Simply just import some .OGG files into the game, and you're ready to cruise (Note! The record "Machine Head" by Deep Purple gets quite annoying after hearing "Highway Star" for the 15th time). Overall I'd say this game is a game you'd play for about a week and then you would get tired of it and uninstall it. If they would have made some more goals, or put some more trucks in there, or some secrets, just anything; it would have lasted longer, much longer.
