Didnt live up to the expectations

User Rating: 7.1 | .hack//Infection Part 1 PS2
.hack (dot hack) is played in an simulated online enviroment, you play as Kite, a boy who is invited to play the game by a friend (Orca), after learning the game's basics Orca takes you into a dungeon where you see a strange creature following a girl. When you investigate the incident Orca is killed in the game, but he also falls into a coma in the real world. You start investigating the incident, and that is what .hack is all about. The game is typical hack'n slash. The lack of a lock-on feature is annoying sometimes, though the camera angles even more so,you often have to chance the angles so that you can see what you're attacking,or get an overview of the situation. The boss battles are'nt too though, if you get in trouble, just move away and let you're buddies do the attacking. You level up as you defeat enemies as in most other rpg's. You're magic and skills come equipped on weapon, armor and accesories. The graphics is'nt to great, the characters aren't very detailed, though some of them have very cool looks anyway, the enviroments though feel small and you often have this claustophobic feeling as you move about. After you've played a while you also get the impression that many of the areas are being recycled, which makes the game feel a bit small. The music is good and some of the tracks are cool, but thei're quite short, and recycled alot through the course of the game.Though some of the tracks really stay with you, most of them are just plain annoying. The game is very short, and it has been cut up into four parts, for getting the most out of the buyer of course. After playing it for a while, the game can feel a bit recycled and boring for some. Though the gameplay might come as a blessing for others. The ending makes you want to play the sequel even more, though the sequel probably is pretty much the same. If you fall in love with this game, I can suggest playing part 2. But if you got bored close too the end of Infection, I would'nt suggest it. The game has it's moments but you'll definetly find more value in a RPG such as Final Fantasy X or Kingdom Hearts. The game sounded very interesting considering the plot and such, but it does'nt live up to the expectations it caused.
