Missed the train in 2006, did not care to play it. Fast forward to 2024 and Persona 3 Reloaded is on Game Pass(Thanks Phil!)

I got my Dakimakura and was ready to play!

I was not ready for the opening. When the warning came up that it contained suicide , I pressed a to continue to be brought to a screen where a character had a "Evoker" to her head then was trying to gain courage to pull trigger...Then opening credits rolled and happy music played while countless characters committed the act.

Was there any push back on the game at the time? In todays world, I thought that was crazy, but maybe that was my boomer siren going off..lol

Thoughts?

I haven't played 3, but I've put time into 4 and 5.... They are stylized to the highest degree.... They're the type of games that if I had the time of my 12 year old self, I'd be all over it.... In my current case I only got maybe 25 hours into 4 and 5 before wanting to move on.

Played Persona 3 FES back on the PS2 and am enjoying this version quite a bit. They did a very good job with it.

I still have the PS2 version FES, and yes, back in the day there was a movement to ban the game because of the evokers. That's why it switched in persona 4. I think it was glasses in P4 instead of guns.

I was hyped but skeptical after what they did with Shin Megami Tensei 3, but well, Atlus redeemed themselves with this game and raised the bar with what a remake should be.

It is a very good game, but takes for ages to pick up. The beginning is pretty slow.

How long? I tried playing and I have been watching more than playing.

It's amazing. Effing top shelf writing, along with gameplay, but that's to be expected for Persona.

Enjoying it so far. Played years ago, so them using the P5 engine is a nice refresh.

Tip for newbies, always attempt a total run until you're barred from going further in any Persona dungeons... Gives you a chance to max out your time for SL and progressing social stats.

Do the dungeons change? Thus far it's the same room, over and over. I'm on level 5-6.

@Heil68: You'll get a different coloured room next month.

So no, the dungeon sections are still the worst part of Persona 3, even with the improvements to the combat system.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the game, but it's certainly the weakest of P3/P4/P5 so far. The plot is glacially-paced, the social links are pretty bland, and I find myself just churning through the same actions night after night.

I'm starting to remember why I never finished it the first two times I tried it.
