The Last Of Us Season 2 Gets First Official Images

HBO's adaptation of the best-selling video game The Last of Us was an absolute smash for the streamer, earning huge ratings, several award wins and nominations, and held the cultural zeitgeist by the throat. Season 2 has been in production for only a couple of months now and new looks for Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) were revealed by Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, during the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation.

These are the first official images from the show, as leaked photos from the set were posted earlier this week, giving us a first look at Dina, played by Isabela Merced (Madame Web).

Season 1 for the most part stuck to the original narrative of the game, but expanded in places and added new characters. That's mainly because it's a relatively short game. Season 2 might not have the same level of padding. The Last of Us Part II is a 25-hour game, more than double of its predecessor.

The Last of Us quickly became the most-watched debut season of a series ever for HBO, the second season will premiere in 2025 on HBO. It's unclear if the season will follow the same time jump of five years later or not at this moment. The world hasn't changed since the collapse due to a fungal infection that causes humans to mutate into zombie-like creatures, and there's still no cure...thanks to Joel's actions in the first season.

Rejoining Pascal and Ramsey will be Gabriel Luna as Tommy and Rutina Wesley as Maria. The previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, and Danny Ramirez as Manny with Catherine O'Hara guest-starring.
