VR Sports announced today that it is currently setting up agreements to produce interactive football games with the National Football League and the NFL Players Association. VR Sports, a division of Interplay Productions, has already signed a deal with the Players Association and has a letter of intent from the NFL. The first title to be published under the partnership will be Jimmy Johnson's VR Football '98, developed by Padded Cell Studios and set for release on the PlayStation in August.

Jimmy Johnson's VR Football '98 bears the name and endorsement of the Miami Dolphins' coach and will feature motion-captured animation, pre-game and halftime speeches, post-game analysis, hints and advice, and criticism from the great man himself via over 125 video sequences. All 30 NFL teams will be represented, in addition to a Pro Bowl team, historical teams, and Jimmy's teams.

VR Sports also holds NHL and NHLPA licenses for VR Hockey '98, and just released VR Baseball '97 under license from Major League Baseball and the MLBPA.
