Microsoft Highlighting Top Indie Games All Month Long
"Game Fest" begins.
Microsoft is celebrating indie games this month. The company has announced new promotion that aims to highlight the "breadth of amazing content" found in the ID@Xbox indie games program.
Every week in May, Microsoft will spotlight some "very special games," which will include new releases. There will be a theme for every week, as well as discounts on the featured games.
The ID@Xbox Game Fest, as it's being called, starts this week with the theme "Discover." Highlighted games include The Park, Beyond Eyes, and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime.
Looking ahead, the schedule for subsequent weeks will include:
- May 10-16: Play for Free -- Will highlight free-to-play games like Smite, Warframe, and Roblox.
- May 17-23: What's Next -- This will spotlight Game Preview titles like The Long Dark and The Solus Project.
- May 24-30: Best of ID@Xbox -- This week will highlight "indie standouts" like Rocket League, Rogue Legacy, The Escapists, and The Banner Saga.
"Since the days of the original Xbox, I have been a huge fan of independent games that bring us incredibly creative and unique experiences you just cannot find anywhere else," Xbox executive Aaron Greenberg said in a statement. "The innovation of great games coming from developers in the ID@Xbox program is incredible."
