The 3DO didn't have many things going for it, but the system had Crystal Dynamics' software support. The company's first side-scrolling title was Gex, a game that was a hit on the 3DO and was later ported to other systems - PlayStation and Saturn included. For the sequel, Crystal has gone out and used the benefits that the PlayStation hardware has to offer. From looking at the screenshots, you'll see just how graphically impressive Gex's new outing is - and the time and quality Crystal Dynamics has put into the game.

Each of "Enter the Gecko" levels has a specific TV- or film-related theme. The themes include Kung Fu, Sci-Fi, Scream TV, Twisted Cartoons, Secret Agent, Prehistoric, Circuit Central, and the final battle in Rezopolis.

In addition to brand-new levels, Crystal has taken complete advantage of the new 3-D engine. Gex can now climb up certain walls vertically, with the camera following the perspective change at every corner. Those Gex fans who couldn't get enough of Dana Gould's smart-alecky voice-over in the first game will be happy to know that he'll supply the voice in the sequel.

The game is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of '97. In the meantime, check out the following screenshots.
