Apocalypse is Drawing Near

While the world teeters on the verge of destruction, it's up to you and your cyber-scanned "buddy," Bruce Willis, to save the day.

Activision stopped by the VGS offices yesterday with an early playable version of their promising-looking PlayStation action title, Apocalypse. The game revolves around the premise that the player must prevent, with the help of cyber-scanned "buddy," Bruce Willis, the destruction of the world.

This latest revision has two near-complete levels (which displayed corridor shooting, a Star Wars-esque catwalk scene, and a rooftop-to-rooftop run) and displayed a variety of weapons, including a standard gun, a pulse rifle, a very literal take on a spear gun, and a flame thrower whose effects have to be seen to be believed. The digital "information" gleaned from Bruce Willis' corpus delecti is beginning to show up in the title, which is impressive. The title seems to be hitting its production marks and will likely meet its winter release date. Stay tuned for more updates.
