The world of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is nothing short of massive. As you trek through towns, caverns, ruins, and the wilderness, you realize that there needs to be a decent means of speeding up exploration. Here's our guide on all fast travel methods in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Likewise, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.
All fast travel methods in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Fast travel in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be classified into three types:
- Local travel within a town/city - Certain services let you go from various areas of a town/city.
- Local travel within a region - Open the region map and click on an icon of a destination.
- Travel from one region to another - There are different methods that you unlock over the course of the campaign.
Bear in mind, however, that there are instances when fast travel won't be possible at all. This is likely for storyline purposes, and your only recourse is to advance further in the campaign until the feature becomes available again.
Towns and landmarks
Towns and settlements, such as Kalm, Under Junon, Gongaga, and others, all count as fast travel points. Certain landmarks, such as notable bridges or environments, may also be considered as fast travel points. These have hexagon-shaped icons on the map.
World Intel
The World Intel activities that you complete for Chadley aren't just for materia rewards or party level boosts. Once you're done with a particular task, you can teleport back to that particular spot. These include Remnawave Towers, Combat Assignments, Excavation Sites, and more. You can learn about these objectives in our World Intel guide.
Cache Locations
Some areas may have treasure chests that you can open to obtain rewards. These, too, are counted as fast travel points. It's worth noting that you can use these spots even if you've yet to collect all the items in the vicinity.
Chocobo Stops
If you encounter a baby Chocobo running around, be sure to follow it since it leads you to a Chocobo Stop. Simply hold the Triangle button to lift the signpost, which then activates the shed for later use. Note that you can fast travel here once the signpost is up. However, if you want to rest to recover HP and MP, you have to put a Cushion item on the bench.
Scenic Spots
These locations are marked on your map by an NPC named Snaps. Once you've arrived at that area, open Photo Mode by pausing the game and pressing the Square button. You don't actually need to save the image itself, as just activating Photo Mode is enough. You can learn more about this activity in our Scenic Spots guide.
Fast travel from Junon to Grasslands
Upon reaching Chapter 4: Dawn of a New Era, you won't be able to return to the Grasslands region and Kalm. Well, not until you complete a particular side quest. We've got more details for you in our Stuck in a Rut guide.
Fast travel from Costa del Sol to Under Junon
You'll reach the beaches of Costa del Sol during Chapter 6: Fool's Paradise. Eventually, you'll be able to return to Under Junon via the Shinra-8 ship at the harbor.
Fast travel within Costa del Sol
Your old pal Johnny has a fast travel service, which is unlocked once his hotel is up and running. Speaking of Johnny, you might want to learn about the Saga of Seaside Inn side quest.
Fast travel within Gold Saucer
Your first visit to the majestic Gold Saucer happens during Chapter 8: All That Glitters. The Mog Assistants have placards which you can interact with. Doing so allows you to select a particular square or section of the theme park.
Fast travel between airfields
At the end of Chapter 9: The Planet Stirs, you're tasked with heading to another region by plane. Let's just say that a certain pilot should be able to help you out. Your subsequent flights will then cost 300 gil each.
Fast travel within Cosmo Canyon
In Chapter 10: Watcher of the Vale, you need to complete the main objectives. Once you return to Bugenhagen, the Cosmo Canyon assistants will be happy to let you head to other sections of the towering spire with ease.
World travel
A certain incident happens at the start of Chapter 12: A Golden Key. Because of this, your party is able to go to any discovered fast travel point in any region. Let's say you're in Gongaga and you want to go to the Crow's Nest in the Junon region:
- Before Chapter 12, you had to do the following:
- Go to Gongaga Airstrip.
- Travel by biplane to Under Junon or Gabe's Ranch.
- Travel to Crow's Nest.
- At Chapter 12, you can simply open the world map, check the Junon region, and click on the Crow's Nest marker.
