How to find the Sacred Arbor of the Elves in Dragon's Dogma 2
The Sacred Arbor is the village of the Elves in Dragon's Dogma 2. Our guide will start first with its location, but we ask you to hold off instead of heading there so soon. That's because there are some things that you need to do beforehand.
Sacred Arbor location
The Sacred Arbor is well northwest of the capital city of Vernworth. The closest landmarks to these woodlands is Trevo Mine, which is also where you obtain the items needed to unlock the Warrior and Sorcerer vocations.
But first: Switch to the Archer vocation and find a pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization
Before you head off into the unknown, we advise you to do the following:
- Switch to the Archer vocation - You'll understand why soon enough.
- Find a pawn with the Woodland Wordsmith specialization - This particular pawn specialization automatically translates the elven language into the common tongue.
Gift of the Bow: Meeting Glyndwr
Next, go to the market area in Vernworth. You'll find an elf named Glyndwr in front of the weapon shop. You need to give him any human-made bow, so just buy a cheap one from vendors.
Gift of the Bow: Finding Glyndwr's repose
Glyndwr asks you to train with him. The location will be marked on your map, so it's time to make the long journey to the forest. You'll eventually arrive at a mini-dungeon known as the Forgotten Tunnel. Talk to Glyndwr and shoot the targets that are hanging below the bridge. (This is why you should switch to the Archer vocation.)
Note 1: If you want, you can plop down an extra Portcrystal in this area. That's because of the next quest objective.
Note 2: The gate that leads deeper into the Forgotten Tunnel is locked, but you should be able to open it if you enter from the northern side. You don't need to do it now, though.
A Trial of Archery: Meeting Glyndwr once more
Return to Vernworth and let a full day pass. Check in front of the weapon shop, and you'll see that Glyndwr is back. He wants you to attend the trial that he's about to undertake.
On that note, it's time to return to the area just outside the Forgotten Tunnel--this is why we suggested placing a Portcrystal there. Upon arriving, pick up the Portcrystal you left earlier and just follow Glyndwyr as you eliminate the enemy mobs along the road.
Shortly thereafter, you'll reach the Elves Sacred Arbor in Dragon's Dogma 2. There, you'll meet Glyndwr's father, Taliesin, who'll tell you that the trial is postponed since his daughter, Doireann, has been taken.
A Trial of Archery: Sacred Arbor and Ancestral Chamber
You now have to head to the Ancestral Chamber, which is east of the Sacred Arbor. Follow Glyndwr deeper into the chambers. Upon arriving at the marked location, Glyndwr will tell you that his sister is in the grasp of an Ogre.
Glyndwr will fire an arrow that temporarily staggers the Ogre. Use this time to rush into the room, then carry up Doireann and bring her further away from the chamber. Once Doireann is safe, help your allies defeat the Ogre.
With the creature slain, it's time to make your escape with the rest of the group. Outside the Ancestral Chamber, Taliesin and Glyndwr will offer you their thanks.
Rewards and what's next
Now that you've completed A Trial of Archery, you'll receive 2,800 XP, 16,000 gold, the Repeller Bow, and a Portcrystal. Return to the Sacred Arbor and rest for a full day to unlock additional rewards and tasks:
- Archer-Maister's Teaching: Heavenly Shot - Speak with Taliesin in the Arborist's Home.
- Quest: Escort Request - Taliesin will ask you to accompany him through the Forgotten Tunnel.
- Quest: The Ailing Arborheart - Talk to Doireann at the Arborheart, and she'll tell you of its plight. You have to search for Gwyfencha, also known as Scalecinder.
Bonus: Learning the Woodland Wordsmith specialization for your pawn
Although characters like Glyndwr and Doireann speak the common tongue, most of the elves in the Sacred Arbor do not. As such, you'll never understand what they're saying. Even shop dialogue selections are in the elvish language.
Still, it's possible for your pawn to learn the Dragon's Dogma 2 Woodland Wordsmith specialization. Here's what you need to do:
- Speak with the elven innkeeper NPC (seen in the image above), and press the "Gift" button when talking to her.
- You should gift her flowers, such as Noonbloom or Moonglow, to increase her affinity.
- Since gifts can only increase each NPC's affinity once a day, you have to rest at the inn or wait while sitting on a bench.
- Once the elven innkeeper's affinity is maxed out, you'll see her blushing. She'll then give you the Woodland Wordsmith tome.
That's everything you need to know about the Sacred Arbor of the Elves in Dragon's Dogma 2. There are many more secrets to discover as you explore, including the Sphinx Riddles.
